had the centre section welded twice now (either end of the silencer ) and its been strengthened to stop it flexing. now its sounding throaty and not crisp. it just doesnt feel right. I took it to the garage and they cant see any thing wrong, I am really baffled (no pun) about it. it just doesnt feel the same any ideas I dont want to be beseiged with probs

Best fix is to remove the centre section completely and replace with a straight pipe... Loads of pops and bangs

I dont want to do that. I just want to have a car that runs perfectly

Was it corroding through? Std pipe?

it had a crack on the pipe at either end

Surprised it sounds any different after getting it welded as long as it was done properly. As Angel says, swap it for a straight bit of pipe!
