Hub Carrier issue?

Afternoon all,
Took the 197 for its MoT the other day and the tester picked up some movement in the front near side wheel. It only seems to be when rocking the top/bottom of the wheel not side to side.
He couldn’t see what was moving, the suspension seemed to be fine and stationary. Is this a possible hub carrier issue or is there anything else obvious to check?
Only managed a Quick Look at the weekend and couldn’t get any movement with the wheel off. (Definitely not just a mismounted wheel though, I just couldn’t get enough force into it without the leverage of the wheel, while only up on a jack)

I hadn’t noticed any bearing hum or any other issue on its last track outing, nor on its trip too/from the test station.

I would be very surprised if the carrier is the issue.
It'll likely be an issue with one of the swivel joints (there are 2, an upper and lower).

They do usually start to make a creaking or knocking noise alongside the excess movement he's seeing.

Indeed. But the OE equivalent ones are more than ample.
