Knocking Noise (HELP!)

Today the clio has started making an odd noise. Its coming from the front passenger side.

Symptoms:-
Knocking Noise front passenger side (RHD car obviously  )

Theres no vibration/shake or odd feedback coming through the steering or peddles.

Theres no vibration coming through the chassis or floor.

It doesn't stop when I apply the brakes.

It only happens when the car is moving, and doesn't change with engine revs.

The frequency of the 'knocking' is consistent with the speed of the car/wheels.

Heres a video I've taken from the passenger wheel well, you have to listen for a few seconds as you can't hear it over the engine noise so when I come off the throttle you'll hear it. Also I went over a few speed bumps, so the occasional loud noise isn't the wheel falling off

Anti roll bar link? To see if that is the problem, get underneath and give it a tug to see if theres any play in it. They usually cause knocking noises when going along

Can't see or hear nothing in the vid

You can't see owt on the video (its dark outside) but you should be able to hear it, might be worth turning the old hearing aid up Roy

I'll have a play around tomorrow, any advice appreciated. Its dark out now and my jacks at work so I'll hopefully get a look tomorrow (car wont be driven till then).

Thanks

I think it's that constant rotational (is that even a word?!) noise you can just hear in the background.

Wheel balancing? All the wheel bolts tight?

yeah its a really frequent 'thudding' noise. I checked the wheel nuts, they seem fine, wheels tight on as well and theres no play in it if I push/pull at it.

This is why this forum is worth every penny we pay because we get so much technical knowledge for free

I think next time I need mechanical help, your missus might be better placed to advise me, than you :tongue_smilie:

/ Spam (Sorry to the OP)

Who told you Roys wife was a mechanic?!

Back on topic, any more ideas? I'm gonna change the front brakes on Saturday anyway, but I don't THINK its a stone. It could be, but in the past when I've had that it stops or changes when I brake.

Any other ideas guys? I'll be jacking up the car tonight so ideas on what to look for would be nice.

Thanks
