Replacing heater resistor?

Hi everyone, my heater has packed up and after reading a bit on here and a bit of a google it seems that it is the heater resistor, i have got another one to put in but have no idea where the other wire that comes off of it needs to go, anybody throw some light on it?? It come off the back of the resistor and is about 12 (maybe 16) inches long

Is it a centre console/dash out job?

Which speeds don't work. 123 are resistor whereas speed four bypasses it. check also for melted wires

None of them work, 1,2 and 3 went first, 4 about 4 or 5 days later

Theres a bit of corrosion on one of the pins, its like a dust on it and the plug, dont look like theres anything melted though
