Standard Headunit - Issues/Options?

My 2006 - 197 standard head unit has developed some issues. Seems to be damaging CD's - skipping when road surface is bad. Some discs get really hot after say an hour's playtime.

Anyone ever had similar issues? Just the basic standard renault headunit. Looking into options, reason for my post.

Seen a few threads regarding upgrading to aftermarket, I'm quite into OEM and would be happy to just replace the unit second hand and solve my issues. However could I upgrade to a better spec renault unit with MP3 easily, as I would like extra functions, and steering wheel controls.

Any advice/experiences would be great, thanks in advance.

Mine used to skip/jump on a slightly bumpy road surface but not something I've noticed for a while. I've just bought an AUX cable for mine which I will be fitting sometime next week, its a far cheaper option than a new unit and saves me having heaps of cds in the car.
