Strange noise at high revs

Had my gearbox changed about a month ago and ever since I've had a strange noise when changing gear at high revs. Not sure if the gearbox i the culprit or whether something else has become loose as a result of it being changed. Or if it's something else entirely...

Basically when I give it the beans I hit the magic green flashing light and go to change, then upon depressing the cluck I get a strange crackle like sound, definitely from the front. Hard to describe the noise really and I'm not sure taking a video would capture it...

Anyone else had a similar experience or does it need to go back to Renault?

Yep that's the one! I did search but couldn't find anything - thanks for the vid!

Glad it's normal and it doesn't have to go back again! Any ideas what it is? Or link to the other thread? Didn't do it with the old gearbox at all so I assume it's gearbox related.

I think it's something engine related rather than gearbox, can't remember now though to be honest. :smile:
 
I was told it was the cog continuing to spin by itself after the clutch was released because its spinning at such a high speed.. I didn't really think that was it due to it not happening in other cars e.g ctr at 9000 rpm
 
I've heard two things, it's either the exhaust/manifold rattling against the heat shield. I've looked and can't see it's close enough.

The other is it's the secondary are inlet butterfly valve 'fluttering' when you've come off full throttle.
One way to test this would be to disconnect it but I've never had chance....
 
Yeah that all got resolved, it was the air con pipes rattling/resonating... the second noise as you come off the throttle is what Steve is referring to.

I keep meaning to try disconnecting it also!

Strange that it didn't do it prior to the gearbox change?? Or maybe it has just become a tad louder after the work was done and therefore more audible. I'm just glad it hasn't got to go back to the garage again!

there's no way I'd be happy with that noise. It needs checking out. That rattle at the end your describing isn't right.

I've got it being looked at by the garage on Wednesday still they told me on the phone today that they have already had the box out because it needed the 3rd gear syncro if it's still not right I'm hoping they will do it again like I said I do still have warranty for 3 months I just don't want them to come back at me asking me to pay any money out or it goes in like 6 months time :worried:

yes mate i took the car to mark fish who's a local specialist near me he drove the car round a few times slow and fast he said the noise was normal and all was ok and one of his mechanics owns a 200 aswell and he said it was all ok :smile:
