Tyre sizes

One of the things I need to do before I start to really enjoy my car is stick 4 new tyres on it. Originally I wanted to stick to the factory 215/45/17 but 225/45/17 seem to be cheaper for some reason, on Goodyear eagle f1 anyway, which is what I'm going for. Surely the bigger the tyre the better, within reason? Also why is the bigger tyre cheaper???

Its not about size of the tyre, its about how commonly its used. You also get more variety with 225.

It's quite a popular swap on here, from 215 to the 225 width. Especially with better semi slick choices

I wouldn't advise anyone on what to do. It totally depends on what your after. The 225 width sits nice on the 8j Speedlines.

I've got the standard anthracite wheels, but I quite like the oem look so il not be changing them, they are mint too. I'm just thinking that surely a 225 width is slightly more beneficial than 215.
