As above guys, needing to remove callipers soon for new disks and i don't have the socket. Hex i think it is???
any one know the size or a link to where i can get one?

Thank you

Halfords do a 12mm hex 1/2" socket for around a fiver. Had to buy one as the biggest one in my set was 10mm. They require torqing up to 100nm.

Careful with doing them up to 170NM - it's an aluminium thread - 110NM should suffice.

I just do them up as tight as I would do a wheel nut or a little less there is a lot of thread on it so it could take 170Nm but I think it's a bit overkill.

Well this is from the workshop manual so it's either 102nm or 170nm.... which one is it?

Be very careful tightening these bolts up to the factory spec! I have done it and two occasions stripped the thread out of the hub. I now only torque them by feel which I would say is in the region of 100nm but much prefer doing them by hand now with 1/2 Ratchet.

good advice as they are into the alloy hub what i would add to this is make sure the threads are clean & use a bit of wd40 or like to help as tight threads can pull the metal out of the alloy hubs

Would a lubricated thread cause you to overtighten the bolt for the same torque rating?

Yes. Adding lubrication to a thread will change the torque required to get it to it's dry torque value. However it depends on the specification in the manual, some components will state a wet torque figure to take into consideration of some form of compound being applied, these hubs being a perfect example a steel bolt into an Alu casting. Being just a car component and what I remember seeing it will just be a dry torque value. I'll check the manual tomorrow though.
