If you only had £2000 to spend on a fast, fun runabout what would you get?

I'm thinking 172 cup but i dont know what else there is out there?

106 Gti for me, awesome cars for the money, and very very cheap to repair if anything goes wrong with them!

Audi A4 1.8T Quattro, epic barge fun.

Honda Civic 1.6 B16, cheap thrills and bombproof.

Classic unmolested Impreza, there's more about then you'd think.

Renault laguna V6 is well under 1k and will do 0-60 in 7 seconds with a manual box!

These things are surprisingly quick.

As are the 3.0 Senator which can be picked up for even less still.

Anything big engined is dirt cheap these days thanks to fuel prices. The later spec laguna shares the same 24v v6 as the clio v6!

I'd stay away from Saxos tbh as in a crash your face is the crumple zone. Not many people walk away from Saxo accidents unhurt.

It'd have to be a 106gti for me and make it mint!! Lovely little cars. I was looking for one the other day to have as a little project but sadly most have been wrecked or distastefully modded.
