All this aggro you are having for just a steering rack replacement (on a new car I might add) is simply unheard of. Thumbs down to all the people involved in this.

When I had an identical problem I simply called the extended warranty, they sent a mechanic over, he authorised it and I drove off after a week with a new rack. And I didn't even have to cause any trouble, apply any pressure etc...

Its like a personal vendetta now Yiannis. I am not enjoying running the car long distances (for example this week is my driving week for the lift share and im hating every 70miles of the journey a day)

But its all to easy to just trade it in (for a sickening price may i add)

So i feel its my duty to win against Renault and persue a claim to get all my outlaid costs back from the year ive been complaining.

The main problem is i love the car, i love its looks, the way it goes, the way it did handle

what with poor dealers and going back on genuine warranty claims then renault wonder why they arent selling cars compared to the 7yr warranties on kia and hyundia cars.....they seriously need to wake up or its game over

This sucks big time. Haven't read it all but presume you have put pressure on via Renault uk?

When I had my S3 everybody's roof rails were corroding due to a design fault that ran across the vag range. I had a warranty claim turned down locally which was happening to loads of poeple so i collated everyone's details off Audi Sport, mailed to their head of customer relations copying in the Audi MD suggesting it might be something trading standards and / or the media would be interested in as a design fault equalling their coil pack debacle. After some to and fro they offered to do my work only, but I refused and eventually the whole forum got work approved after I met locally with some Audi suits.

If it's the rack and there are a number of precedents in the uk collating some details might help your case if this still gets nowhere fast? Apols if you've done so already and good luck getting it sorted.

Just got to be a dog with a bone with it like you say.

Perhaps others could post some details here or PM them to you so you can use that as extra leverage?

I agree, we did the same thing when I had my MkI Audi TT. The whole instrument cluster (that houses the immobiliser) was a problem and 600 pounds to replace.
Start a thread, get everybody's comments and threaten to go to Watchdog. The TT problem actually aired on Watchdog and MOST guys had theirs replaced and after an Audi bulletin all future repairs were carried around without the dumb look and line that dealers always give you... "first time we've heard of this problem"

Why you even here? You dont own a clio no more so stop reading?

Yes. 2 laps of the ring. Handled perfectly. 2 days at Snetterton. Not an issue.

All before the gearbox change, all before the knocking and heavy steering began.

To add to this

I did 2500 miles around Europe, 7/8 hours driving some days, was never a chore to drive.

35 miles to work and im left fed up with heavy inaccurate steering.

Here lies the problem ... You must be bored of moaning about it now ... I know I am bored of reading about it

Have you ever done a track day ?

no one moaned and bitched about their car more than you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even im bored of moaning about my car, but, im sure this is invaluable info for others out there, thats why i keep it upto date.

And im not moaning as such, im moaning at dealerships not the car. Its not the cars fault they cant fix it.

Just read something on the cliosport forum which shows just how incapable the dealerships are...its sickening..

2500 miles, engine spun a bearing and destroyed its self. bodged back together by ARNOLD CLARK STIRLING (IDIOTS) was given it back with the steeringwheel sitting at 2 oclock when going straight, they massively adjusted tracking to "fix it" however it was actually the full subframe being on squint not located in its dowels. tried to kill me every time I braked.

Renault UK were useless always saying if the dealer said there is nothing wrong then theres nothing wrong! dealer after dealer said the same thing, suspension geometry specialist took one look at it and said im not touching that until ive spoke to Renault to explain how dangerous this is, they told him that if the dealers said it was fine then his machine needs recalibrated. he stripped it, repaired it and it was 10x better but still never perfect.

I lost a fortune trading it in 10 months old.

ill never buy a brand new Renault again unless there is a serious change in the dealers, and silly dealers with renaultsport jackets who will take your money but not stock any renaultsport cars to demo for you calling themselves renaultsport dealers are not the change im talking about!

Are you covered under warranty if you do a track day ? Or does it void the warranty ?

They were all way before i lost confidence in the car.

You had your brakes sorted under warranty after hours of abuse on track...a million times more aggressive than me the beginner thats for sure.

So, were you covered under warranty?

I am simply asking as I know many others have had things done under warrenty when the car is tracked yet others declined the level of driver ability is not a measurable in this case so bears no reference to the question.

I will say though there is a give and take approach to this type of thing yes it's not on the rack has gone however they could show you the finger and wave goodbye to you as they could have done with my brakes howeve using give and take works best for me have you considered buying the rck and asking them to fit it for free ? Or visa Versa ? Fact is your warrenty is void sadly ( I don't agree with this logic but its the rules ) getting anything out of them is a bonus. Saying ahh it broke after the track days not relevant as you will get "accelerated wear" thrown back at you.

Just a consideration is all ... Every time I went I adopted this approach and things worked out ok. I was always great full and mindful the car is not covered so anything I get is a bonus. Jumping up an down for them to fix things bad mouthing them on a forum they use and the same forum and indee thread that documents the very reason the car is not covered is never going to have the way outcome IMO. Saying that as mentioned above ruk seem to have a soft approach to enforcing this track day rule but I guess it all comesback down to the local dealers again....

Dispute what you may think given the tone of your reply I am only trying to offer advise as I have been in a similar situation and am alsways willing to help you as you know.

Either way I wish you all the best in getting it sorted. For the record if it was me and it was upsetting me that much I would suck it up and get it changed myself accepting it as one of them things about owning a French hot hatch can't be miserable all your life ... Get it chnaged

Its just distressing that an issue you pick up on all day long they dismiss as "normal" thats all. The service manager went out of his way to get to the bottom of it and they've suggested a bodge. Im not moaning at the garage as he has spent the most time investigating compared to others.

One garage heard and felt the knock a multiple of times and agreed, but when it came to reporting back to Renault UK, he said he felt nothing.

I know of the aggro you had with yours so you know how i feel...its gone on long enough though. Back in tuesday for this "modification" lets see how that goes!

If they could just locate the issue we would be getting somewhere!

Getting it swapped for something else is also being persued. Its just finding what i want that im finding difficult!

What did you end up with in the end?
