brake fluid

Just a quick query im looking to change my front disc's and pads for mtec slotted discs and cl rc5+ pads. While doing this I was intending on doing a full brake fluid flush. Am I safe to use non silicone based dot5.1 fluid as ive heard it can damage seals etc on some cars.
