Cam Solenoid

Can someone tell me the functional operation of the cam phase change?

From the service manual, it does not change the timing at idle or whilst under a certain load threshold

1 -So is the function mainly for mid to higher rpm with part throttle?

2 -If the solenoid was electrically disconnected, would it only affect part throttle, mid-range?

Would be grateful of any help

Andy

Its a curve not a switch so its not as simple as where it works, but more by how much its making a change. If it is unplugged it will run like poop for a lot of the rev range

yes absolutely, it's called PWM (Pulse Width Modulation). Essentially the same control channel as a lot of people use for running a boost control solenoid. It's a table that looks just like a fuel or ignition map really
