Cleaning Calipers

Hi all,

Going to strip and clean the brakes this weekend. What's the best stuff to use to get the brake dust off the calipers? Bilberry? G101? Or just standard brake cleaner (although I know this can leave a white residue so would avoid if I could)?

Elbow grease. I used brake cleaner and Jizer and lots of soapy water. It is easier to take the calipers off, for a really deep clean, get all the crud off from everywhere. Then if you seal them with the likes of C5 they then don't get as dirty, and only need a yearly clean on the car.

Toothbrush and some soapy water and some brake cleaner.


wheel cleaner should be fine too. Next time I do mine I'm goin to use some diluted diablo gel wheel cleaner.

I used wonderwheels with a tooth brush, worked fine.
