Coil Pack

Was driving along and engine starting riding rough, engine light flashing and number of warnings occurred.

Checked engine, noticed 1 of the coil packs was releasing a bit of air, looked into it was wrecked...

Question 1: what could have caused it?

Question 2: Will it be a case of replacing the coil pack and spark plug?

Question 3: Do i need to replace all 4 or just the one?

Thanks guys.

This is the coil pack. As you can see ruined.

Ordered new ones, need to change the spark plug to but having issues with the correct size socket. I believe it is 14mm deep socket, but the one i have does not fit down the hole. Any advice?

Also, still after answers to the previous questions.

you need a very long slim socket to get at them...any quality motorist place should have one suiatable...

needs investigating does that - looks melted? has the plug come loose?

whats with the bodge on the retaining bolt?

It had came loose due to the retaining bolt de-threading the hole, so had to be drilled into and a longer bolt fitted. Worked as it was and remained tight. It is thought that the coil pack was already damaged, and was just a matter of time.
