Halp :( Blowing noise and loss of power.

Set off to work today drove nice for about 8 miles then went to overtake and my car started to make a loud blowing noise from the front of the car.
The sound is loudest at the front wheels.

All I can say is it's blowing. Or sounds like a petrol lawn mower :worried:
Could even say it sounds crap like a scooby.
Any ideas?

Thanks ya.

have you had a look at the exhaust manifold as these are comon to go.

That's what I was hoping it wasn't :worried:

Any ideas on prices to fix?
Just rough guesses.

before jumping the gun you need to find out exactly what it is!

could be a broken manifold or a blown exhaust gasket or snapped stud...

get it checked over then you will need a few quotes from some garages - either replacement or repair (if it is the manifold)

If my warranty booklet states that "exhaust system" is not covered under warranty, does this include the manifold as I've been told different.
Some say it's exhaust, some say it's it's own category and sone say it's under "castings"

What would you all say as far as warranty is concerned.

It's part of the exhaust, therefore I'd assume it comes under the exhaust heading.

The manifold on the clio isn't cast so it won't be under castings.

Exhaust manifold is cracked :worried:
It's not covered by warranty and been told it's 997 quid to fix.

The car has only done 30k.

Shurly this is a manufacturing defect with the manifold.

Has anyone got any ideas for what I can do.
And would it help if I contacted Renault UK?

Don't get renault to do the work, get a garage to take it off, weld up the crack and put it back on.

Where was the manifold cracked?

Don't really want a crack just welding back up.
Not sure where it's cracked yet.
I'll pick the car up from the garage tomorrow and find out.
:worried:

Ya Wana make some pocket money si

got trouble at work mate so cant really do an "on the side" job at the moment :thumb1:

there will be nothing wrong with getting it welded - you find a garage that could possibly weld it in position depending on where the crack is
