How much better on fuel are 182's

Not at all. The trip computer may show they are but the trip on my 200 reads under and both my 172s and my Trophy read over. Owning both I'd say there is nothing between them. The 200 has 2 extra gallons and the best ive had is 460miles and never had over 350 in any of my mk2s

An early 197 may be more thirsty cos of the silly box.

I've got to disagree, my 182 was a lot better on fuel. On steady motorway runs I was getting 46-48mpg. There are not a lot of 'quick' petrol cars that will make that figure. When thrashing it I never seen below 26 mpg which my 200 sits on day to day when driving around town.

The weight of the mk3 just kills the fuel although I have read on here that they actually make better MPG than what the trip computer is showing.

My sons trophy is far better than mine his averages about 38 mpg to the 197s 21-22 mpg and on the motorway the 197 uses twice as much nearly
Will ask him exactly how much he uses knocking about town

As said above don't trust the trip computers. If a 182 says about 42 and the 200 35 they are doing almost the same.

Brim both tanks then see the results. The 197/200 will do about 20% more miles and funnily enough that's exactly how much bigger the tank is.

I'm convinced the trip on 182's are wrong?? In mi e I'm getting 28/29 to the gallon and no more than 300 miles a tank. I don't think they might and day better like they are made out to be! I've got both and don't think they are!!

I'm currently doing 39mpg in the 182 on my commute the 197 used to do 23/24mpg. The 182 is miles better on fuel.

When I had the 172 for 3 months, it seemed to be about 35mpg, even with some fun driving!!!!

well i got back from cornwall, 325 miles on 40 quid in my 172. My 197 would get no where near that! An tbh as much as i like my 197 i kind of wished i'd tested some other motors first

Our 182 does mid 20s all week long, wheras the 197 on the same run does 18.

Short journeys, approx 3 miles round trip

182 faired better on a run, but only just, getting 32 vs 30 (197)

Is that working it out or on the trips?

If on the trips it will be more like 29 vs 33

My 197 averages 31mpg and never really drops below 27 when booting if I'm on motorway I tend to get around 44 to 46 ...

Hubbys 172 gets about 33 around town, 45 - 50 on a run. My 197 gets about 26 around town, and never any more than 36 on a run.

i seem to remember my old 182 cup used to average low 30's, with low 40's on a long run. That was all from the trip computer tho.

my average in my 200 is high 20's normally or mid 30's on long runs.

If it ever falls to 18-20 for normal driving then i will throw it in the bin, as thats the exact reason I got rid of my JDM STi Impreza!
