Mono CD ???

Hi guys.

"Mono CD" appears in the dash display (on top of the dash) when I turn the car on - surely the CD player is stereo ? The CD sounds a bit crap to be honest, I'm sure it would sound better in stereo.

I've scrolled through the menu on the head unit but can't find any setting for stereo CD. Also had a look in the audio handbook which is about as much use as tits on a fish.

61 plate 200 with standard head unit.

Anyone help ? Thanks in advance.

Grumpy - yes, tried a bit of AC/DC and Red Hot Chilli's (showing my age). They're both stereo CD's.

Nut - mono means audio through a single chanel, stereo means audio through 2 or more channels giving more depth/ direction to the sound.

Always an excuse for an upgrade I suppose.

I think it fair to say, and everybody will agree, that the standard sound system is total and utter rubbish. I had better in my base model fiesta 14 years ago, and that had a single tape deck!!

I have a Parrot MKi9100 fitted which has its own amp built in and the sound for it is much much better. And you can connect anything with a iPod, usb, or 3mm jack connector to it. Great bit of kit.

Says mono due to not having the multi CD player option.

as above mono as in cd1
