R3 Airbox

A few people have fitted the V6 airbox and have seen some good results but has anyone fitted thee R3 airbox set up? Just wondering what the difference is between the two different airboxes.

If you have fitted the R3, was it worth it, did you see any gains and was it an easy fit.

Simoximino did it and then returned to the V6 setup.

He had problems with the hose that goes to the throttle body. It was all made in one piece so it was hard to keep it on the TB with all of the vibrations.

If I remember correctly.

But, if you ask me, it's the best possible option. Just replace the plastic hose with the rubber one. Expensive setup...but I would try it out.

any pics?

From what I remember, as well as having to move the battery you also have to move the coolant reservoir to fit the R3.

Thanks for the responses lads, it does seem like a good set up, moving the battery is something you would have to do with the V6 airbox anyway. I'll give it some thought and see how it fits in with the master plan ;-)

Gonna check Simoximinos thread now

Porn! Wouw what a price though, plus a battery your talking 800 quid, and I'm sure it will need mapped after that... Itg maxogen sounds cheap now!i

Link also ?

thanks

ps do they run these air boxes on the clio cup racers ?

No, the Clio Cup cars use the V6 Airbox with a Green filter.

The parts for that are available through Renault dealers, but they won't have them in stock, it'll be an order job.

K-Tec Racing stock the Maxogen kit, I'm sure it's around £250 but you don't have to relocate the battery by the looks of it.

that madeno one looks nice but i cant help think that there over quoting on the power increases its an open filter at the end of the day

Cup airbox is superb....more torque and great sound. I quite like the battery in boot. Sounds stupid but just adds to the mod. Downside is I'm sure it would be even better if you could get air to the airbox. Cup racers run without wing liners so no problem there....

Madeno racings kit is very impressive. I looked into it myself about a year ago and I was sent lots of dyno charts and videos etc. Looked genuine and sounded amazing with the open filter. However they use the brake servo for mounting as it's been developed on left hand drive cars so I didn't bother because I didnt want to have the fittings trouble.

That carbon air feed is gorgeous though!
