ridiculously over sensitive throttle pedal

as the title suggests, I have a very sensitive throttle needed barely any input whatsoever to send the revs flying! doesn't seem right to me. anyone had this issue? or any ideas which bits i can take off and have a look at? makes stop-starting round town a nightmare. once up and going it's no issue

no nothing like that fitted. im wondering if it's just a characteristic of the car. had a 197 years ago but dont remember it being this touchy...

They are pretty keen, especially when cold.
I remember when I first had mine it was impossible to set off without it jerking violently
