We have a pre-facelift 2010 WRX in our garage, being very honest its probably the most disappointing car we have had in a LONG time (We've had several imprezza's in the past in various forms of WRX and STI).
The handling is atrocious, there is NO steering feel whatsoever, great for parking but when you've got the foot down you don't feel safe in the twists. You have absolutely no feel through the wheel or pedals, it feels as though the car is floating above the road. It suffers body roll BIG time too.
The gear box in standard setup isn't great either, the 'gate' is very shallow so when your chucking it through the gears it feels as though you have bounced out of the gate which makes me very nervous giving it some - we have since fitted a short shift kit which has helped tremendously-
Above all though they're just not that quick, in a straight line Mum's pulls away from the Clio, but if I'm in 3rd above 5k RPM its bloody close no matter what she does (Im running custom tune, BMC air filter, Supersprint race exhaust system). Through any corners the clio is quicker and much more fun hands down every time.
The Rex just lacks the fun factor, Ive never felt comfortable throwing it into corners or wringing its neck through the gears, I know Im biased but comparing it to the clio it is an Old peoples car, practical and comfortable.
