sensor by oil cap

Hi all what's the sensor by the oil filler called and is it supposed to be a tight fit as mine is loose?

Hi mate, I believe this sensor is the MAP sensor. You might find this thread incredibly useful

Hi thanks for the reply what I need to know as its the map sensor shouldn't it be airtight as mine is fitted rather loosely I think one of the o rings are knackered

Yes it should be airtight, pretty much every clio has it loose. I put cable ties round mine.

£5 for forum membership will give you the guides section and more, has some good fixes for this problem and 100s others.

So it shouldn't have any movement either side to side or up or down mine is really loose going to see if I can find some new o ring's to seal it better as I think mine are worn

Mine was very loose on the day I got it home from collecting it new, doesn't really seem to effect anything.

It should ideally be airtight yes. I didn't realise you wouldn't be able to read that thread I linked - that's got details of a fix. But yes, a better seal will help. A lot of the 197s suffer from a flat spot c2.5k revs - possibly caused by the sensor being loose.
