197: So, MPG?

Used to average around 29-30. Weren't great, but it's a sports car...I didn't buy it to be economical.

I've had mine 3 months and do 25 mile round trip to work, mostly town driving and a nice long country road for a blast!

At present averaging 29.7 MPG.

The bloke that had it before as a weekend blast had it at 14 MPG.

If I even think about my right foot mine drops to near 23mpg, I've not seen 25mpg yet.

i bought mine from London and drove it back to heysham for the ferry home and i got 38 MPG, now im back home were no speed limits out of town i get between 23 and 28MPG, far better than my impreza at 17MPG and my Mk1 escort at 8MPG lol

My first 1800 miles i'd got an average of 31MPG but then i did a track day at cadwell and it dropped down somewhat.

Just done nearly 300 miles today and it's crept back up to 28MPG.

The worrying part is the screen that says i've used 78 gallon in 5 weeks anic:

Had my 197 around 3 weeks now, reset the MPG when i got it and have just looked today and i've averaged 24.5MPG, thats not that great is it? Considering 80% of the use of the car has been to work and back keeping it under 4k. Having just parted with a 260bhp Audi S3 which was a fair bit quicker than the 197 and averaged 25MPG i was hoping the 197 was going to be a little better.

So what do you all average?

I have a 197 and get the same 24.5MPG as you. I'm getting 22.4MPG at present with VPower. Bearing all this in mind I only do 12miles a day and keep my revs low and short shift due to going through urban area.

When I have driven on motorways I get a max if 36MPG with consistent 4.2k on the revs. Wish Clio had turbo to bring revs down a bit more.

My friend has Audi A3 1.8T 2001 reg and he gets better MPG than me. The Clio is good fun tho when giving it a kick.
