Strange knocking noise

I have a 12 plate 200 cup with 10k miles and the past few days I've noticed a knocking noise. Sounds like its coming from the front left and can be felt slightly through the steering wheel. It only happens when stationary or going really slow if you turn the wheel slightly and can sometimes hear it if you go over some bumps. Any idea what this could be ??

a good guese would be lower arm link, but it could be a number of things. youre better taking to a garage then second guesing what it could be

I've got this in my 197 ATM and was told its the inner rack end.
It's going in this week to be sorted so fingers crossed as the part was only £15!!

My local garage sources the part from his supplier.

Mines not the same part as this.
I showed my garage the pics on that thread and he said that wasn't the faulty part on mine.

I may replace them just incase though

Cars going into Renault this afternoon so should be sorted under warranty

Well after going into Renault they found that it needs a new steering rack, booked in for Friday under warranty, only done 10k miles aswel

Which dealer did you use for them to diagnose that. I seem to have had almost everything changed, except for the rack.

The one in Chatham in Kent mate they were really helpful only took it in this afternoon and it's being done on Friday

after renault replaced my track rod ends, mine still knocked, i took it to a renault specialist, four ashes renault, outside wolverhampton, not far from the m54. they found my problem straight away. you may want to try them

Glad to hear you got it sorted mate. It is amazing how common this problem is, it seems that it occurs more often that gearboxes and the rack is something you wouldn't expect from a 10K car...I'm having mine replaced as well by the way.

Where as my mechanic at Wests in cambridge recons he's never heard of a rack going or even the anti rotation links...i smell bull****

Mine goes in again wednesday for the same problem...and ill continue to hassle them until its fixed now. Its starting to get on my nerves!
