Dale's Glacier White 200 cup

Yeah as you said it does almost feel from their response that they didn't even read my email, saw the picture and threw a generic reply in about coating it with Hammerite.

It is a bit insulting to be honest, but let's see if they agree to refund me so I can sort the issue myself.

It's a shame because aside from this they've been great and I'm really happy with the discs performance and quality.

That's the annoying thing mate, they're clearly not a crap product overall, enough people say they're great. They just need to either sort the coating out, or not offer it as an option. Otherwise, people are getting fleeced.

Standard behaviour in the modern world sadly.

What did you pay for your front and rear discs and pads dale if you don't mind me asking .The reason i ask is i had my car serviced today at renault manchester and they advised i changed my discs and pads all round in the near future but then the guy hit me with the price to carry out the work wait for it £960 i just smiled and politely declined . I had an idea they would need doing soon and have sort of looked at prices on and off but now its time to bite the bullet i guess and buy them .

Don't mind you asking at all mate.

For all four discs, rear pads and some performance front pads it cost me £305 (this figure doesn't include the £25 I wasted on MTECs 'protective' coating).

I however fit them all myself, so I wouldn't be able to give you a labour cost, but I imagine any experienced mechanic could have it all done in 2 or 3 hours depending on how seized the caliper pins are :tearsofjoy: (speaking of which you'd need to buy a new set of pins just in case, Brembo ones are over priced, I used a set of these for £6 and they were fine)

So I'd estimate about £375/£400 all in, no idea where Renault got £960 from, even with genuine parts it shouldn't work out anywhere near that much...

If you need any more info mate please ask away! :thumb:

Cheers mate

So I go a response from MTEC:

Hi Dale
We will certainly refund this amount for you
You should see the amount back in your account shortly
Thanks
Claire

Looks like I'll be ordering some Hammerite and panting it myself.

Is there a proper way to clean the rusted area before applying the Hammerite?

At last they pulled their finger out.

At least you'll be able to enjoy your new brakes now without thinking about being ripped off.

Nice one mate, good on you for not letting them get away with it, many would.

Always stand my ground, sometimes it pays off sometimes it doesn't :tearsofjoy:

Bit of a result mate on the refund. It's the least they could of done!

Would be interesting to know if anyone else has the coating and has had no problems?

Picking something big up this weekend for the car, not going to say what though you'll just have to wait and see :french:

Wheels are the only thing I can think of that's big and wow.

well, it's not an exhaust as you've just bought one. So, by the powers of deduction, it's either engine related (cams/remap, or something FI-related), or some wheels!
