Shuv's Racing Blue 200...................

Those trophy Megan seats are lovely apart from that carbon effect stuff! That textured alcantara in the middle is beautiful! This is starting to tempt me now

Those ZX's are brilliant Mes! I don't think i've actually seen them before, don't really own any runners but I'd love to have them in my Adidas collection!!

Back OT @sevenfourate Haven't you thought of a similar design to the Megane Trophy Recaros ? I know you said no alcantara but that bolster/edging trim texture is to die for! and you could always have leather to replace the alcantara.

Youve ruined @sevenfourate big suprise on the 14th!! A personal look at my trophy reccaros

So what you going for bud? Or is it a wait and see, rather the later but thought I'd ask  deem pricing a retrim myself! ban me from this thread!

Its no big secret buddy  Just thought i'd bored the forum enough.

I'm going for leather all over. The very dark grey i liked the shade of when i looked at the swatches is called Anthracite. This should match-in with existing dash / seats / door-cards etc and be a saleable colour in future if i choose. Hides coming from this supplier (Who is meant to be truly excellent):

http://www.muirhead.co.uk/

I've gone for the best quality, most supple leather they do in 1.2mm thickness and a matt-type finish. And im going for a very slight texture. Nothing like 'Orange peel'.....but not completely smooth and possibly vinyl looking either.....

This will be ordered Monday. My trimmer will then cut off two pieces that will make up the headrests - which i will take to have the Recaro logo's stitched on; as per my original logos are. As i'm not having the RENAULT sport script - i am considering moving the RECARO logo up into that top position. Thoughts ??

Then when he's ready and can fit me in.....we'll be all ready to roll

Stitching colour and logo colour - im still pondering ! Wont be anything outlandish though. My car is kinda 'subtle' and i'll be doing the same here. As i always intended. So likely a contrasting lighter grey, black - or perhaps white.

If you want to know costs; One large leather hide [Which he thinks will be enough] is going to be a little over £200.

His labour will then be around £600 for the fitting. So with a bit of messing around, logo's etc etc - around £850 all in for the retrim.

***For comparison i did speak to Capital Seating [THE Recaro approved re-trimmer for the UK]. For reference they wanted £650+ VAT for the two front seats = £780.00. They can also arrange collection / delivery at £63 +VAT each way.

And if you wanted front seats x 2 and the rear benches done - they quoted me £1000+ VAT. Not ridiculous is it ? And their work is supposed to be truly excellent as you can imagine.

But for one reason and another ive decided to go with my local guy where i can stay in touch, watch it happen, not pay if im not 100% happy etc

Cheers for asking.

Good news, Shuv. Glad you've decided on the scheme - it does sound lovely. Now the waiting game begins!

Furry wheel cover is......impressive  'My car is in the garage..' Good one

Excellent news, and a great price for serious craftmanship. Liking the colour scheme also
Personally, I'd stick with the Recaro logo where it already is. Although my Renault Sport logo is embossed, it's quite easily missed, and would have the best resale value if they were plain headrests with 'Recaro' in the standard position.

Well: if project 'Leather seats' was a race horse - then its just fallen badly at the first...........

Got into work at 5.30am this morning and spent just over 2 hours cleaning all the plastics, runners, backs, metal-work etc. Now feeling quite pleased about the purchase / the bases i'm building up from.....and they came up really well to be fair:

Then i got a call this afternoon to say my hide had arrived. Its nearly 6 square metres !!!! So look like the rears might get done too somewhere in all of this....

Colour might be 1/2 shade off the dark grey i envisioned (Not easy to match from a book of 1" square swatches !!!). But all good and i'm more than happy.

Texture looks great too. Do bare in mind this is a close-up high-def photo - and your eyes wont see in as much detail as this in general day-to-day use:

Now the bad bit. Trimmer cut me the two oblongs as pictured and marked the centre ready for the 'RECARO' logo's i was having stitched elsewhere.

I rang his suggested place and they cant, or it isn't possible to stitch logos onto leather as it will puncture / rip / tear / fail doing so many holes in one small area. So she said !

@Micah - Are yours stitched or embossed ?

@Gordini - Any ideas where i can get embossing done if i draw a blank on my stitching idea ?

Cheers one and all.

Hopefully this will be just a small setback, Shuv, and I hope you aren't too deflated by the current situation. Rome wasn't built in a day, as they say, so I'm sure that things will work out with time. Absolutely worth getting a second opinion on the stitching though...

Haha, not at all  as with every project you start, Shuv, you're dealing with this in a pragmatic way. A stickler for the finer details, but never maniacal, or depressive
