Cadwell Park Report

Time attack Round 1 - Cadwell Park

Warm up - went out on the Pirelli road tyre for 1st session just to get feel
For track again and thinking was still wet from nights rain. ended up beating my last years fastest time (semi slick). P1 in class . Shows how much cars improved.

Practice - swapped over too the new Pirelli torfeo and managed to beat last years time by 2 seconds. P1 in class.

Qualifying - made some adjustments to the suspension and altered the tyre pressures slightly. The track had warmed up aswell by the point. Before went out I said if could get into the 1.46s I be happy which we did! Car felt great! This turned out too be my fastest lap of the day. P1 again in group so maximum points!

Also this time was quickest "clubman group" time of the day so that meant I took the clubman lap record again for the 2nd year. This was personal goal I had set myself before we went to smash that time!

Final - Didn't quite go to plan at all.!! Only thing I did different is I went out with the ear phones in so could be updated on the progress of the other cars. Head phones a distraction ? Trying to hard and untidy driving ? Who's knows Probley bit of both!
After having a last 2 lap dash before chequered flag I managed to pull a second back but wasn't enough. I was 2 seconds slower than my fastest qualifying time :/

So on points side that a 1st in quail and 3rd in final .

For me personally was slightly disappointing end to a really good day. If I had kept same lap times as pervious session then would been p1 in final.

Main thing though is cars come back in one piece and it's not broke! Lol

Well done to Peter for taking p1 and Jordan for taking p2 final!

Also side note - Joe Dawson taking P2 in club FWD on his 1st outing! Awesome drive !

Thanks again too all

Update for the car!!

stripped bit more crap out of this morning. Looks more tidy now inside. Saved bit of weight but not much. All been well Aircon pump , Rad and pipes will be out very soon so that'll be good chunk weight saved!!

Got a issue with the akrapovic system too :worried: gutted about it really due to cost dam things!! One the baffles has gone in the middle box and its rattling its bag off around 3k. Virbrating the hole car. I bought it 2nd hand ( was fairy new ) but for me a 1200 quid exhaust shouldn't do this. What I expect of miltek etc!! Anyway come to decision to chop it out and stick a straight pipe. We shall see what that brings. Hopefully with car been mapped already there won't be any flat pot issues. If there is be trip back to RS tuning.

The car modification side, the issue I'm finding now on track with the Pirelli Trofeo's the B14s seem to struggle when really trying to Push hard. The Grip levels between these and nanknangs from last year is a lot really. Also more confidence in car and trying to push more?

Anyway ive ordered a Set of KW clubsports. Was Toss up between these and ASTs but customer service and product delivery time was a cocern with AST for me.

After speaking to KW, I've had custom Spring rates front and rear with there Motorsport rear set up. Hopefully they will arrive before next weekend!! They even done it as a Motorsport sponsorship deal aswell which chuffed with!!

so we shall see what they bring when we head to brands!!!

afew i took this morning , selt belts, roof lining , side airbags

Going proper stripped then no aircon etc. You'll be in Club fwd before long...got an engine and box that would make you competitive

Haha nothing in rules that says can't be removed. The front door cards and dash is in place so
within rules

but but yes a tyre R engine with 260bhp would be pretty good for Club!! Then again might be enough then to keep up
with new shape type R that's been dumped in my class *******

Coming brands?

Mitch would do it, you can see on the 200 race build (and also I looked up his rwd focus build on passionford), guys got great attention to detail and finishing skills. Do you a good price

Prembrey report...

TimeAttack Round 2 report. Pembrey race circuit.
As some of you I attended the test day on the Saturday but it didn't go quite to plan. Spent all morning fixing the car after it decided it wanted to miss fire. We believe it dropped a coil but to be sure had new set plugs aswell. Lucky the local Renault dealer had some in stock! Massive thanks to Dad for helping fix it in middle of a monsoon!
Onto the Sunday - bright sunshine and warm day on the cards. Totally different too the pervious weather forecast!
Open pit lane - went out for few laps on my own and then was lucky enough to have max Coates jump In with me for few laps . ( current Clio cup racing car driver )
Warm up - went out on road tyres as it decided to rain all night. Just went round trying to get my lines right from what picked up day before. Was few parts where knew didn't real right.
practice - switched over to the Semi Slicks. Again not really pushing too much just trying to get my lines right as was one part circuit was struggling to get right. No matter which way I took it , it never felt right. Also was struggling with rear. Never felt loose and believed we was hitting rear bump
Stops so lifted it all up at back.
Qualifying - knew i had to make time up so did a few quick'ish warm up laps, mange to find some room and stuck few quick laps in. Only enough for P3 but car did fell better. Little bit too loose as at one point thought was going be going backwards across the grass when rear come round. Ha
Final - swapped the tyres around front to back to try have some fresher rubber on the front. Made a little bit difference but not enough. P3 again missing out by half second or so too P2. Quickest lap set in final turned out to be fastest of the day.
Come away with P3/P3
Well Done to Jordan for Taking P1 and Peter P2. Was also joined by OHW (Sam) that drove well . Was good to have extra car in the class.
Reflecting back - 1st time ever driven here. It's a fast circuit which can be quite flowing when get it right which is rewarding. Wouldn't say it suited the Clio but fast middle section was very enjoyable ! Track surface was Very hard on the tyres especially the fronts! Think everyone struggled.
Brands hatch up next for
Round 3 so let's see what that brings!

Still not had a answer of Arkravpoic yet regarding the exhaust! Bit of a pain but not giving up! ill get it sorted one way or other.

Put straight pipe in for now but way too loud so having a box put which should keep noise levels down for track and add some back pressure as youve guessed it. The flat spot creeps back now and then!!!
