Front suspension lower ball joint failure?

Just about 3 years old, 29.5k miles, MOT on Friday and it failed on excessive play in the NSF, and got an advisory for slight play in the OSF lower ball joint.

Mike at Rentech in all his years working on 197s and 200s has never had to change them so I'm a bit gutted to say the least.

Started out at almost £900 but I got it to £490 with 3 days in a hire car courtesy of Ray Philip at Renault UK...ask for him if you ever have any issues. Top bloke.

Anyone know of any other failures or am I just unbelievably unlucky?

Had play in mine for three years and there's been a few.Im sure they were replaced at no where near that price?? I may be wrong

How much play? I had 10mm on one, 5mm on the other?

The price was basically for the entire front hub assemly, over £200 per side, plus VAT and 4.5 hours labour.

I'm sure I read the balljoints can be replaced seperately. Renault list it as a whole assembly but RenaultSport list the parts seperately. I may be wrong though?
