IMPLEMENTED: Regional Areas?

An idea taken from a Corsa forum i used to be active on..

How about making Regional Area Sub-forums? That way people from specific regions, ie, Yorkshire, North East, London etc could have their own "mini" forum to meet, get to know and maybe organise meets with other people in their area?

This isn't the site i was on, but its the sister site and shows a better example of "how it would work"

I'd like to see it, as im pretty new to the site I don't really know if anyone with a 197/200 lives around me, or who they are and what they are up to. I guess it gets people knowing eachother and you can organise things around your region. Instead of trying to organise something with someone who lives in Scotland when you live in London for example.

Then you could have regional organises, etc who'd be reasonable for "looking after" their region. (organising meets, promoting the site etc) They could be given a large amount of flyers for example, to distribute through their region and members.

Not sure, just thought I'd suggest it and see. :001_wub:

Yes I think this is a fantastic idea.

Each site I have been on (Saxperience is my entire history lol) Saxperience, ZSOC and PerformanceToraque has regional areas.

While the site is growing, there may not be too many members in each area, but one day there will

See what Jase says!

We tried before to get area reps and it fell flat on it's face. :worried:

Thats gutting!

But it could be done "repless" for a while - purely so that people from Yorkshire can talk miles t'gallon to each other, and people from daaaan saaaafth can talk miles to the gallon to each other.

Oh and arrange get togethers for their patch too

I agree, doesn't really need the reps. Suppose they could be given out later to people who are active in their region or whatever.

Its just so people can talk to people from their own neck of the woods, if you know what i mean.

There is a "where you from" thread to see who's in your area.

Will have a look at doing some thing when I get my pc back. :worried:

Yea, ive seen that. Its not bad, but you can't really talk to people from your area and stuff! Just think it'd be nice, might get people talking more and getting to know eachother too.

Okay cool, why what have you done to it? haha.

would have to make them sub forums of the track days and meets section as dont want them just to become areas for talking about genral stuff as the other section are for that.

I suppose that'll be fine. It won't be a place where people will talk about pointless junk, more like region specific stuff, like if someone fancied a meet a Clumber Park, or whatever they could put it out to that region (and anyone else) to come.

It just makes it easier to find out about stuff going on in your region i guess.

Couldn't it be done like this? http://www.ukcorsa-d.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?30-Meets-and-Events

Nicely done...this is Saxperiences one:

mike you need to log in to view the sax one.

can it be done like the corsa one.?

Mike your best with just a Scotland one, as the majority stay in the 'central belt' which would be ... Central Scotland  which isn't there :tongue_smilie:
