Steering help please

My sisters other half last weekend brought a R27 and i went with him to test drive it, is there a diffrence in steering as when was driving it the steering was so much lighter compared to my 197 cup?

again need to check the easy bits first -

tyre pressures and condition
ball joints and steering linkages are un-worn and free to rotate
electric steering is working correctly (may have to go to renault for this)
steering alignment

usually heavy steering can be a result of excessive front wheel alignment mainly excessive toe-out - if its bad you get feathering of the inner shoulders of the tyres

i test drove a few before i bought my cup. and i found that the cups had harder steering! i thought it was weird at first but i think its to do with when your going fast its not as twitchy, as it is the "cup" version its suposed to be more of a "race" car if ya know what i mean. lol.
