Back from the brink...NOW RUN INTO ISSUES!!!

Looks a lovely 1*2 but they look dated now compared to the 197 IMO you know which is the better car, and we all know they aren't the picture of reliability. I'm with foxspeed on this, I'd stick with the known entity.
 
Do you know the owner or the cars history? You don't want to jump out the pan into the flames!...

But the first thing I'd do is try and arrange to own both lol.
 
That looks like a tidy example of a 182. These cars have grown on me so much lately it's unbelievable.

Get some coilovers and 2118s and it'll be perfect.

But then again, your 197 is superb.
 
Does look a really nice example! Just make sure about the history your on to a winner for me! Sure the 197 is a great car but personally I prefer the 182 from my R27. So much more fun plus better on fuel :wink:
 
As most guys have already said Mike check the 182's history before making up your mind (older car and all that) but im sure you dont need telling!!
Im sure from time to time we all get fedup/frustrated with our Renault Sports with fuel/reliability etc (i know i do) but lets be honest...... They still turn a few heads + the major components youv'e shelled out for are out the way now

This alone for the 197: Fuel costs: 19,02 GBP/100mi 42.887 mi and 8.157 GBP - A lot for 2 1/2 years motoring lol!!!
 
I can't see the sense in this downgrade, the car will save you hardly anything and they are a common sight nowadays IMO
 
I think you have the change in your head! It's still a epic little car plus a little cash in the back pocket is always nice :wink:
 
How many owners mike?

It often gets a bit hairy near 3/4+ cause they have less to lose and such.

In your shoes id have done it . not for your reasons as your going to have to spend £££ no matter what but because that 182 is S ex Y

Cambelt etc all done, so not as much £££, but yes, the pics he sent me of it are PORNOGRAPHIC can cannot be posted for that reason:wink:
 
When my 58plate) got smashed into by a female it fell to pieces in the road,after a costly repair I drove it and for 2 weeks it felt like it wasn't my car it was driving worse than it should I took it to the dealers to have it all checked over and it came back all ticks everything was fine with it, so I got rid of her and... Regretted it! Brought the car from brand new! Absolute adorable car!! So a clio 182,megane world series and 8 months later I found myself back in a 197 as nothing else compares to it!!
 
If you wanna be a hooligan get a 182, 197 is much nicer on journeys and feels on the whole better. But, both great and different drives. Love both of mine!
