Can always get the tyre fitted to mount the weights on the inside of the rim. This is what I have to do to get my 17's to clear my 335 2 piece rotors.
Also looks better as you can't see the stuck on weights behind the spokes.
A specific set of 16s will fit according to this thread: http://www.clio197.net/threads/smaller-wheels.13049/. I've tried finding pics of the alloys online but haven't been successful. You could also machine down the calipers a few mm like the 1*2 guys to get a different set of 16s on.
Some motorsport wheels are made to fit over big brakes so have more clearance in the middle of the wheel, it makes it harder to fit tyres as the dip on the inside is less shallow.
I had some 15" compomotive wheels on my Alfa that would clear 302mm discs and brembos but the standard Alfa wheel would not.
A 16" wheel like this might give the extra few mm needed to clear the brakes that the standard wheel does not have.
16" tyres are typically more expensive then a more widely used 15 or 17" tyre, and you'll also have more choice with 17' tyres. I'd personally stick with the norm
