What Causes It

Ok i know there's a lot of talk about rear brakes sticking on when the vehicle is wet and the handbrake has been on for a while. I've been searching but cannot seem find a definitive answer of what really causes this. Is it the compound of the pads (so when you move to a new pad material it goes away) or is it the discs? Anyone have the definitive answer please?? :tongueout:anic:

Minimal clearance between pad and disc, moisture getting inbetween and drying out which sticks the two surfaces together... I think. Although everything I've just types could just be utter b0ll0cks so don't quote me on it!!!

My rear brakes got stuck on today due to the snow and freezing temps we have had here in sussex! as I left for work my car did an impression of a dog dragging its a**e along the ground!

mine are sticking due to plastic coating on the end of the handbrake cable inner cable has come away. Rust is setting in on the inner cable and has got water ingress which freezes when cold.
