Has your gearbox been replaced? Yes or no?

What would sound reasonable cost-wise - they're quoting me £270 + VAT?
 
Got car back on Tuesday evening and I've driven about 50 miles and now I can't get 1st and 2nd tbh I'm starting to think this is a money pit and may get shut

Mine was £1960 all in fitted with a new std box tl4 024 and was fitted last week, I couldn't find any updated gearbox parts for the 197. Tried tran x and quaife.
 
£1960 WOW, I would never pay that, I'd buy a box off of eBay and then get local renault specialist to fit it, fingers crossed I don't have to go down that route :smile:

I complained to Renault and they paid half so box off eBay plus labour equals same cost for me. No specialists over in iom, they are all evo, scooby and rally orientated.
 
No.....

I just bitched because I hadn't owned it 2 mths and it had done 19k miles. Tbh I would try them, I wasn't expecting to get anything. I was told that if I bought it from a RUK dealer they would have paid 80%
 
I haven't spoken with RUK yet, that was just the dealer quote for the work. Apparently the parts are on emergency order from France now. Let's see what happens next.
 
i have priced up the synchro baulk rings one of the main items that breaks/wears......not that expensive to be honest even for all 6!
 
Disappointgly I've only been offered 50/50, which I've turned down. Not sure what to do next. I've got a few days to take/seek advice while the parts come from France. Have to say that the dealership have been great so far though.
 
I was told today that my car needs new box and so they say is being delivered 2mo and will be done by monday? will see lol Still the megane they have loaned is not to bad, comfy but not fun!
 
Where are u guys getting up rated synchros as the box I got fitted from Renault after first failed went another 10k miles later the main reson I sold the r27 Renault should resolve the issue once and for all it's an absolute disgrace IMHO
 
I am dreading getting back to find out its the same!

I am gonna ask them if it is any different, hopefully they will give me an honest answear as theres no way i could tell?

Might try for extra couple of years warranty on the box?
