Lacquer over gloss black paint???

I'm painting diffuser gloss black and I'm debating weather I should lacquer it to add further protection due to chips.. I've lacquered gloss black before on old badges and still shining nice but debating doing it on diffuser or just add more paint??

I would IMO.

I'm currently doing wheels @ three coats primer, three coats paint, two coats lacquer.

Thought you would have needed more coats than that to get the full shine.. I'm on 6th coat paint now on diffuser and last coat just wanted to get best shine as I could with cans yea I'll lacquer it
