Hi everyone, I hope with your combined experience you can tell me what this issue is because it's driving me mad, I've completely ran out of ideas now. I've owned the car for 2 years now and I've never had any of these issues before, they've all cropped up in the past month. I just hope it's one issue instead of many!
I've been creeping around the forums for a few weeks now trying to find something similar and at times I have but the fixes haven't worked, plus I want sure if these are 4 seperate problems, apposed to 1.
I have read the MAP sensor could come loose and it was, so I bought another of eBay (Because it broke), fitted it to the car, put some sealant around the sensor and put a cable tie around it so it's not loose at all. I have also cleaned the throttle inlet, there was a little muck and oil (I think) in there so now that's clean.
So the issues,
1) It idles quite high say around 1,500/1,600 every time I start it, unless I've just come back of a drive that lasted more than 30 minutes. It may go down to 1,000 after 5 or so minutes, but even then the idle seems really jumpy and inconsistent. so it sounds a bit rough sometimes.
2) The throttle if revved seems to get stuck sometimes at say 2,200, 2,000 or 1,800 for between 5-20 seconds before going back to whatever the idle is one that particular day. This means when at junctions if I'm about to set off but see another car at the last minute, the engine will keep its rev's at 2,000 which is pretty annoying and loud due to my exhaust.
3) There seems to be a flat spot at around 2,500-3,000 revs where nothing really seems to happen for bit. Also sometimes then engine makes a weird noise that can only be described as like a splutter. It's sort of like the ESP is kicking in and limiting the engine so it like it's been held back. But surly the ESP wouldn't kick in when you put your foot down in 6th doing 40mph on dry roads would it?
4) Lastly (Thank god!) but the most dangerous by far is there's sometimes no power in 1st for 2-3 seconds. So if I'm at some traffic lights or a roundabout and I've stopped, if I see a gap I'll set off, it will go forward a bit but the revs will stay low (By this time I'm on the roundabout doing 3mph) then it will all of a sudden come back to life and I'll shoot off as my foot is where 4,000 revs should be but I was only doing 1,200. It's similar to when you'll set of in 3rd and there's no power for a bit, but I know I'm in 1st.
I hope you can help or I'm screwed, because No 4 will result in an accident I just know haha
Cheers everyone!
