Micah's Deep Black 200

At least with a diagnosis; you now have a way forward Micah.......

Yes i bought full cambelt change kit from ALS like you. They were the cheapest genuine Renault parts around. Guy who works on my car isn't a Renault specialist and actually prefers me to do the research normally and acquire the right parts. He's happy to 'just' fit.

So you did exactly the same as me effectively and got seriously unlucky. And luck is about the crux of all this imo. Its just rotten luck that's all.....

I'm not really sure there is moral to this story as such.

Best of luck pal.

The moral of the story is... shit happens
Is what it is. I just want to get the car back this week as I need it this weekend, being my birthday and all :tongueout:

yeah the wait is killing me too..hope yours is sorted soon Micah..

Cheers Pav, it's actually on the ramp and stripped down ready for the new part to be fitted this morning apparently.
And then we will see!
Annoying thing is, I've got an interview to do at 5.30 so don't think I can pick it up until tomorrow (if they have space!)
Mustn't grumble though, you're the 'King of Patience' but suppose you're making up for it by chasing those Czech girls

yeah true..girls are everywhere..went out with bloody 3 of them last knight but kept my cool and went home alone :tearsofjoy:
a king of patience???haha sounds about right..not too long now

@///M How could you possibly know that? :tongueout:
So, yes, Terry called me this morning and the new dephaser has been fitted and the car is pulling like it should. I'm really happy that it was as straight forward as that, just not that it's cost me a fair bit extra, and this is being taken up with ALS as we speak.
@Pav it's for a Commercial Lawyer for our company, I'm the interviewer but have got someone else to do it so I can leave early to pick it up. To be honest Pav, although you were out with 3 ladies, methinks you improvised and didn't need to return home to do the deed, and merely went home for some rest :tearsofjoy:

Glad it's finally sorted Micah & that you can start to enjoy the car again.

Fingers crossed ALS pull their bloody finger out. They should be paying for the new part AND the labour!!!

The answer is no, they're not. They are saying that in order for them to make a warranty claim with Renault, I need to send the dephaser back in the box it was packaged in to highlight the batch number. Now, tell me a garage that keeps the packaging after they carry out work. I'm just looking for the right details for Renault UK and will get confirmation from them. Luckily I paid with PayPal, so will go down that route if need be.

Utter scumbags. Surely there are identifying marks on the part itself? What a load of shite. What the hell does it matter what batch number it is? Makes cock all difference to you, the part you bought from them is faulty, end of. Is there any small print to say you need to retain all packaging in case of a faulty part?

Imagine buying a pair of shoes and the soles fell off before you'd taken ten steps and then the shop you got them from refusing to do anything because you didn't keep the packaging? WOW!

Hammer them for all they're worth mate.

I'd be getting some proper legal advise here Micah. Why should you, a paying customer, have to cop for a huge bill for a balls up that is entirely their fault?

And maybe trying to see if you can get a box from somewhere. If they can't match the part to the box, then what the hell does it matter what box it was in? Any old random one should do!

Argh! Livid on your behalf mate.

Whatever, a nice drive on the way for you later!

It's all a bit silly isn't it. Luckily I'm working with two Solicitors quite closely here at work so will steal some of their time if I don't get any luck through the conventional route.

Very pleased to hear you have some solid support in this mate. Really hope it all comes together nicely. Very best of luck.

Excellent news that the car has been repaired Micah - hope you enjoy the pick up tonight!

Shame you have to front the cost and ALS are being arses about it... It goes back to the discussions on the forum recently about poor customer service... They will probably be able to claim their costs back from Renault, however they probably just can't be bothered with the hassle of it all. Unfortunately for them, stories like this get passed around and it can damage their reputation in that way.

Exactly mate. If one of my mates gets screwed over by a company I'll never use them again.

ALS won't be getting jack out of me, even if it means I need to pay more to go elsewhere. No one screws our Micah out of his hard earned and gets away with it!

Glad you're back up and running Micah. Leaves TT in the clear which I'm personally happy about.

ALS won't be getting my business in the future. That's all I can say on the matter
