New Entry-Level Clio Cup Series Launched by Renault and BARC.

To me this seems a way of stopping all the current cup cars being made completely redundant in 2014 when new ones are introduced. Is a nice idea by Renault to do this but reckon its driven by the current teams being able to sell their current race cars next year at decent price.

My thoughts exactly.

think a few need to READ the artical :coffee:

. .and again.

I'd been thinking the 3k was also a way of using up what stock they might have left, cages etc but here the cars will be right hand drive, the cup cages have a double door bar on (our) passenger side and a single one on what would be our drivers side so would need modding.

So it could poss be an whole new cage.

you guys do realise that you can get a cage and fire extinguisher system for a lot less than 3k... right? As that seems to be the most 'wanted' things in this thread!!

Exactly this.... I presume the 3k is just to get you track worthy and complying with legislation. I.e Fia or msa approved cage, electric cut off switch, fuel cut off and fire extinguisher.

Suspension and exhaust will no doubt cost more than 3k

But if they set the regulations, you'll have to have which cage and extinguisher they say.

The cup cage is not welded in, it's bolted to welded in feet so i dare say they'll go this route to make all equal, could be same on suspension, the plate welded to the strut tops would allow fitment of the same suspension as the cup cars.

The inserts for the legs they use are only around £100 each so cage, extinguisher, and coilovers could be around £3k

A rgular winner in the 'street' class could win the series if a load of different winners win the main class.

for sure. I was more getting at a few members saying that they would get the 3k kit so they could have a cage and fire ext.

I was merely pointing out that if thats all you want, you dont need to wait for this kit, you can have both now for less.

Doesn't really matter what the price to make the cage is, Renault are not doing this to make friends, they are doing it to make money and get exposure. Just look at the price of spares for a road car not to mention the price for bits from R Sport for the cup race cars.

Don't expect coilovers either. Probably more like the current set up of springs and Bilstien dampers.

The wording would have you believe that for the 3k you get the same suspension set up from the r3 race car, if that is indeed the case when finalised then it makes it quite an appealing package. Presuming the r3 rally car would run coilovers???

Why wait for Renault....

Spax coilovers £769 http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p=59RSX977&part=Renault-Clio-Mk3-Sport-197-Spax-Coilovers

With my rough maths that's a grand total of £2,747 which is under Renaults "from 3k" this also includes VAT which I doubt that Renault added into their equation.

I'd hope the Renault kit comes with something a bit more "focused " than some sprax coilovers
