Winter Protection Detail - My Megane R26

I finally got my Megane back from Renault on Friday afternoon, following a failed starter motor. The final bill was £1300, but Renault UK paid the majority, so I was left with a bill of £250.

On Saturday, I took my car to get its tyres checked, and it turned out that my front pair had MASSIVE bulges on the inner tyre walls. So, I needed two new tyres. I decided to go for a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport 3's, which cost me a whopping £175 each!

Whilst at Renault, it had also turned out that for whatever reason my exhaust wasn't on properly and so I was losing power (?). How right they were. Since having the car back, and on these new tyres, I am astounded by the performance. I always wondered why it received the reviews it did, and now I know!

So, with a bit of love for my car, I decided to give it a very quick winter protection details today.

Process was:

- Wheels hand washed with Optimum Car Shampoo and Dodo Captain Crevice
- Tyres and arches scrubbed with G101 @ 4:1
- Car washed with Optimum Car Shampoo
- Paintwork cleansed with Carlack 68 NSC
- 1 layer of Carlack LLS
- 3 layers of Werkstat Jett Trigger
- Pinnacle Black Onyx on the tyres
- Carlack LLS and 1 layer of Jett Trigger on the wheels
- Exhaust with Optimum Metal Polish
- Glass with Jett Trigger (it has Xtravue from Elite on it)

The aim is to get 10 layers of Jett on in total - should last quite well

Thanks,

Russ.

By the way Russ, thanks for the recommendation of 203s over on detailingworld. I did get some and its a great polish, unfortunately wasn't giving the level of cut I needed to get out the RDS. I got some M105 too and that worked a treat, finishes down almost as well as 203s but has that extra cut

No worries Ben, I've done 4 Ultra Red's and they all differed very slightly, but they had differing levels of correction required and at different times of the year.

With the Menz, I found I was using their pads, and that combo works very well, but you have to be aggressive with it. 105 works well too though as you say, but is sometimes 'too much' for some cars. Glad you got it sorted anyway

Any pics?

Looks very nice Russ, but I wouldn't expect anything less from you

Do my Black 197 please!
I know your experienced with them

No pics at the moment, I'm living in a bit of a dodgy area for the next few months so am trying to keep the car dirty to avoid any unwanted attention. Hate leaving her dirty but would rather that than have it keyed or something like that

No worries Will - let me know if you want it doing, but I'm booked til mid Nov now :worried:

good stuff, I will give her the winter detail, but once the winter has gone and the sun is back in full force with car shows galore, I'm gonna needed these annoying black swirls done. I hide em with poor boys but they deffo need to go!
